Find Vermillion County Traffic Tickets

A Vermillion County traffic ticket begins with the citation itself and the court it names. Clinton City Court handles traffic tickets for the county, so that is the office to call about your court date. Indiana MyCase lets you search the docket by citation number or by name, and ePay handles payment statewide. Keep two records straight, though. A court docket is not the same as your state driver record, and the clerk's live case file is the one to trust before you act. Paying, contesting, resetting, or missing a hearing each leaves a different entry in the docket.

Vermillion County Traffic Court Records

The county clerk states that traffic tickets are processed by Clinton City Court. The state directory lists that court at 259 Vine Street, Clinton, Indiana 47842, with telephone 765-832-9444. A citation controls the court, date, response instructions, and amount, so do not assume that every ticket belongs to the Circuit Clerk in Newport.

A public traffic case may appear in Indiana MyCase with citation data, court, case type, filing date, statute or ordinance, parties, CCS events, payment or admission, hearing, disposition, judgment, and FTA or FTP entries. Clinton City Court cases can use `83H01`. The court owns the case record even when a statewide tool helps find or pay it.

Clinton City Traffic Route

Clinton City Court is the key local traffic route. Judge Donald J. Bonomo is listed for the court, but the citation itself remains the best source for the assigned court and current response terms. Call 765-832-9444 when a ticket does not appear online, when a date conflicts, or when payment availability is unclear. In-person and mailed responses should follow the ticket's instructions.

The county clerk's short routing notice prevents a common error: the Newport Circuit Clerk should be used only if the case is actually routed there or the city court directs the caller there.

The county also documents a youth program. The image below is from the Vermillion Peer Court notice.

Looking Up a Traffic Ticket

Retain the citation number, court name, violation date, appearance or pay-by date, and all instructions. In MyCase, use the Case tab's citation field, or search by name and narrow to Clinton City Court. Indiana ePay can locate unpaid participating accounts by the fields described in state guidance, but a payment hit is not the complete CCS.

  1. Read the citation number, issuing court, date, and response terms from the ticket.
  2. Search the citation number in MyCase and confirm the court code.
  3. If the number is unavailable, use the permitted name fields and local court filter.
  4. Check Indiana ePay only for a participating payment or unpaid-account route.
  5. Call or visit Clinton City Court when the citation has not posted or the details conflict.

Vermillion Citation Search Fields

MyCase has Case, Name, and Attorney tabs. The Case tab accepts a case, citation, or cross-reference number, and official tips say hyphens and leading zeroes can usually be omitted. A name search can be narrowed with court, status, and filing dates. The citation shortcut is often best because it avoids unrelated name matches.

How to Find Your Traffic Court Date

Begin with the appearance or pay-by date printed on the ticket. Then compare it with the MyCase CCS and any later notice. Vermillion County has no official standalone daily settings calendar in the researched sources. Call Clinton City Court before traveling when the ticket and online entry differ. A continued or reset event changes the setting; it does not erase the citation.

LocationUse the address or courtroom instruction supplied by the court.

Vermillion ePay Limits

Indiana ePay is a payment application for participating court accounts. It may help find an unpaid ticket, but it is not the full CCS and does not replace the issuing court's instructions. A ticket missing from ePay may be too new, unavailable for online payment, already resolved, or outside a participating workflow.

Call Clinton City Court instead of guessing. Indiana State Police also states that it does not receive ticket payments; payment belongs with the county or court where the citation was issued. The following image comes from the official state courthouse history page.

The Newport courthouse is the county court-of-record site, but that location does not override the Clinton City Court route printed on a traffic citation.

Pay or Contest a Ticket

The ticket controls whether and when a person may pay, deny or contest, appear, or ask about another disposition. Do not import a deferral or safety-course rule from another Indiana county. No official Vermillion-specific eligibility rule, local deferral fee, deadline, or prosecutor form was located. Ask Clinton City Court what choices apply before the printed deadline.

Paying the TicketContesting the Ticket
Follow the payment and admission terms on the citation.Notify the issuing court and obtain the required setting or instructions.
Use the ticket's pay-by date.Use the response or appearance deadline printed on the ticket.
Use an approved court channel or ePay when available.Use the method Clinton City Court confirms.

Missed Court Date or Payment: FTA and FTP can appear as failure-to-appear or failure-to-pay docket labels. Contact the issuing court for the current consequence and cure; do not infer either from an old entry.

Vermillion IF and OV Codes

`IF` means an infraction case type and `OV` means an ordinance-violation case type in Indiana court reporting. Those codes describe the court case category. They do not state the final result. Read the CCS for payment, admission, hearing, disposition, judgment, and any FTA or FTP event.

IF is an infraction case classification.

OV is an ordinance-violation classification.

FTA means failure to appear.

FTP means failure to pay.

The citation, court code, and case type should agree. If they do not, ask the court which record controls.

Traffic Court Record vs Driving Record

These are two files with different custodians. Clinton City Court or another issuing court keeps the citation case and CCS. The Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles keeps the separate driver record. The distinction matters because a payment receipt is not a certified court case record, and a court lookup is not a request for the state agency's file.

Vermillion Electronic Citation Flow

Indiana's eCWS moves electronic citation information from officers to courts and the BMV. It reduces repeat data entry behind the counter, but it is not a public lookup portal. MyCase supplies the public case layer, ePay supplies a participating payment layer, and the named court supplies the official local answer.

That flow helps explain why separate systems can show different slices of one citation at different times. It does not establish a posting deadline. Keep the ticket and contact Clinton City Court if a recent filing has not appeared.

The historic setting for the county record system is documented in the National Register nomination.

Vermillion Traffic Copies and Fees

For a traffic record, ask the issuing court for the public CCS, judgment, or other named document. The Vermillion Circuit Clerk's published 2021 schedule lists $1 per page and $3 certification, but those amounts cannot be assumed for every Clinton City Court request. Confirm the custodian and current fee before ordering. No local traffic-record search or abstract fee was found.

Vermillion Traffic Workload Context

The provisional 2025 state workbook, updated August 3, 2026, reports 2,398 incoming and 2,114 disposed Clinton City Court matters, with 7,872 pending at year end. Those are court-level counts, not people or outcomes. They support the practical need to use the `83H01` filter and the city-court contact when searching a traffic citation.
